Issues

School Safety

School safety is the most important thing when it comes to making sure students are comfortable and ready to learn. I will continue to work with the Superintendent to make sure our schools have the resources they need to be safe campuses for students and staff. Safety is always the first priority.

Fiscal Responsibility

Thank you to the Osborn community for approving our $100 million bond in 2023! We are beginning to spend this money to improve our facilities and our bonds will be sold in increments over the next eight years. I will ensure that we are spending this money on things that will make our campuses better and more safe for students and staff.

Continue and Expand Specialty Programs like Dual Language and Montessori

Osborn is unique in that we have incredible specialty programs like the Dual Language Program and Dual Language and English Montessori Programs. As a district, we should continue these programs and as families enroll with us and we see growth in our programs, we should continue to expand the programs to fit the needs of our families.

Recruit and Retain Highly Qualified Teachers and Staff

Teachers have the most direct impact on student achievement than any other factor on campuses. I will work with district leadership to make sure we are recruiting and retaining the best teachers in our classrooms. We do this by continuing to give teachers and staff raises, improving benefits packages, treating them with the respect they deserve, and by showing our appreciation for all they do.

Expand Preschool Access By Decreasing Cost

While Osborn's Preschool Program's tuition is less than many other neighboring districts, I will continue to advocate for decreasing the costs of these programs for our families until ultimately, they are tuition-free. I believe free preschool will ensure continued student enrollment in our district and higher achievement when students have access to early childhood education.

Social and Emotional Learning

Our staff should continue receiving social and emotional learning professional developments to implement lessons to help our students in the classroom grow mentally and emotionally. By building relationships, making responsible decisions, being self and socially aware and managing emotions and behaviors, our students will be prepared for school and life after Osborn.
